My Favorite Iced Tea!

Growing up, my mom made the best iced tea!  She would usually brew it in the sun, so I have memories of watching the glass pitcher on the porch gradually change from clear to a deep brown color.  It seemed like magic to me at the time!

She used 3-4 small Lipton regular black tea bags with one Constant Comment Orange Spice tea bag.  It is that hint of Orange flavor that really makes it good.

I still love her tea today and have gotten several friends hooked on it as well!  So, I thought I would share this simple but really great iced tea recipe!

I have no idea how to brew on the stove for iced tea, so I just use my iced tea maker or brew in the sun!

To brew in the sun, just fill a glass pitcher with water.  Be sure that it is a GLASS pitcher, or it will not brew right.  Add in 3 or 4 regular Lipton Black tea bags and 1 Orange Spice tea bag.  Gather the paper ends and hold together so they do not drop into the water.  Use plastic wrap to cover the top and secure the ends.  Place in the sun for several hours and ENJOY!

You can sweeten the tea with this easy to make Simple Syrup!

Just heat and combine 1 part water to 1 part sugar.  Stir until dissolved and store in the refrigerator, covered.

Note: For some reason, sun tea can grown mold on it after a few days so be sure to drink it soon.  I keep it in the refrigerator.  If I think that I might not drink it all before it molds, I make iced tea ice cubes and keep in a Ziploc freezer bag.  These are great to use in iced tea since they won't dilute the tea!
